Position Information:

Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Assistant Director of Financial Aid provides financial aid counseling to graduate and undergraduate students and families for federal, state, and institutional programs in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations. The position is also responsible for financial aid compliance for award packaging. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will share in the responsibilities of administering federal and state aid, verification, loans, professional judgements, standard academic progress (SAP), scholarships, federal-work study, and other related financial aid functions.

This is a full-time, benefit eligible opportunity.

Work Location: Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work 1-2 days per week remotely, must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.

Duties:

  • Serve as a liaison to the Admission's Office
  • Counsel students in all aspects of financial aid including but not limited to, applying for financial aid, determination of need, packaging policies, disbursement, appeals process, changes to aid package and loan borrowing.
  • Completion of Verifications, C-Codes, Professional Judgements, Special Circumstances, and Transfer Monitoring
  • Ability to work with a variety of websites such as COD, FAA Access, NSLDS, MN State Grant Manager, Salesforce and ScholarNet.
  • Respond to phone, email, and in-person inquiries regarding student questions and concerns.

What you need to have?

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience or combination of relevant education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, needs analysis, student budgets, financial aid packaging, professional judgement policies, debt management, and federal, state, institutional and alternative aid (e.g. grants, loans, work, scholarships, and waiver programs).
  • Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships across campus.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage time effectively, and demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
