Position Information: The College of Health and Wellness at NWHSU is pleased to offer a full-time, Program Chair, faculty position in our Radiologic Technology program. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to lead our program and to position it for successful attainment of JRCERT accreditation. The successful candidate will share our vision of becoming the premier provider of Radiologic Technology education in the Midwest and will help advance that vision through their leadership. NWHSU recently invested in a dedicated lab with new equipment to support instruction in this program. The Program Chair provides the leadership necessary to execute the mission of the Radiology Technology Program and students it serves. The primary responsibilities include program and budget development and management, maintaining programmatic accreditation, developing and maintaining external partnerships, and teaching both in a clinical and classroom setting.

We anticipate the time allocation to be approximately 60% teaching and 40% administration.

This is a year-round, faculty position where academic rank and compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience.

Work Location: Bloomington, MN in-person with flexibility to work 1-2 days per week remotely; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.

Duties:

The program chair recruits, manages, and evaluates faculty. The program chair acts on behalf of the Radiologic Technology program in allocating resources, submitting course schedules, managing facilities, and communicating program needs.

The program chair serves as the principal liaison between the Radiologic Technology program and other campus departments.

The program chair carries principal responsibility for carrying out the following tasks:

  • Lead and manage the program accreditation compliance requirements
  • Shared responsibility for meeting program enrollment goals in partnership with Enrollment Management and Marketing
  • Manage program expenses to promote overall fiscal sustainability of the program
  • Maintain and enhance the academic quality of the program through facilitating regular review and assessment of its curriculum
  • Partners with the Dean to develop and monitor the program budget
  • Provide liaison, information, and evaluations to administrative offices, faculty committees, ad hoc committees, and other groups
  • Monitor course registrations and make appropriate adjustments in course schedules and instructor assignments in cooperation with the Registrar and Dean's Office
  • Proactively manage recruitment for faculty leaves and separations including developing a pipeline of contributors (full-time and adjunct)
  • Provides management and coaching for direct reports including administration of the performance management process
  • Monitor and evaluate major assessment measures of student learning pertaining to department courses and curricular threads
  • Take appropriate corrective action as needed for continuous quality improvement of student outcomes specific to department courses and curricular threads
  • Ensure department courses are correctly mapped to Program Learning Outcomes and accreditation standards
  • Monitor program assessment data and propose changes to the program curriculum as needed
  • Adapt curriculum to promote integration. Work across departments and programs to build experiences for integration with other programs.
  • Coordinate departmental participation in student orientation activities as needed
  • Collaborate with department faculty and student advising and support staff to meet students' advising and support needs
  • Respond to student concerns regarding department faculty and courses and attempt to resolve concerns according to established processes and the chain of command
  • Maintain a responsive and respectful student learning experience

What you need to have?:

  • Master's degree or be able to complete a Master's degree within two years of employment. Eligible to apply to NWHSU's master of health sciences in integrated care. If accepted, is eligible for a tuition waiver
  • Three years of clinical experience in the professional discipline
  • Two years of experience as an instructor in a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited program (Preferred)
  • Proficiency in curriculum design, program administration, evaluation, instruction, and academic advising
  • Experience with Radiography national accreditation standards and procedures, i.e. JRCERT (Preferred)
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration in good standing
