Position Information:

The College of Health & Wellness at Northwestern Health Sciences University has an exciting opportunity for a subject matter expert in the designing of our Clinical Intervention: Nutrigenomics and Epigenetics course (online format) for our Master of Health Science in Functional and Integrative Nutrition program. This course will explore the current understanding and practical application of nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics. By considering the impact of individual genetic variations on nutritional status and requirements (nutrigenetics), students will learn to provide personalized dietary and nutritional recommendations that accommodate common genetic variants.

Students will evaluate the evidence for food and nutrient modulation of gene expression (nutrigenomics) and design nutritional treatment plans that address common chronic illnesses and aid in their prevention. Students will learn connections to nutritional epigenetics and genetic testing options to assist the student in navigating the complexities of gene-mediated influences on health and illness.

This is an independent contractor position. We anticipate this contract to last approximately 2-3 months and will work up to 5 hours per week. Additional opportunity to teach the course once offered in the future.

What you need to have?

  • 2-3 years of experience designing and teaching nutrition at the graduate level
  • 2-3 years of experience with functional nutrition focus
  • Experience with accredited graduate nutrition curricula and the demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate curricula in nutrigenomics and epigenetics focus areas
  • Experience developing and delivering online education programing required.
  • Master's level education and certification in Nutrition or health science related field required (Doctoral level preferred).
