Position Information:

NWHSU is pleased to announce an Adjunct Faculty opening as a Massage Therapy Clinical Supervisor. This position will supervise and evaluate students in Massage Therapy Clinical Rotations.

In the Massage Therapy Clinical Rotation courses, Students provide massage therapy treatment sessions in the Massage Therapy Teaching Clinic and a variety of offsite clinics under the supervision of clinic supervisors. Clinical Rotations focus on the application of full body massage techniques, as presented in Massage Therapy Relaxation, Clinical and Rehabilitative Massage course sequences. In offsite environments working with special populations, supervisors will support interns in identifying red flags, local and general contraindications, and optimal treatment plans that may involve targeted or full-body techniques.

This position is part-time, approximately 7-20 hours per week and on-call availability.

Work Location: Bloomington, MN in-person.

Course Assignment Specifics: Clinic shift supervision needs vary according to student trimester schedules. Supervisory shifts are typically 6 hours each with some 4-hour shifts. Monday - Saturday clinic options may be available.

Duties:

  • Instructs student interns regarding proper patient care, while following the clinical policies of the Massage program.
  • Provides mentoring and fosters an environment where student interns serve as the primary care provider.
  • Instructs students in efficient and proper patient interactions, including professionalism, conduct, dress, and legalities.
  • Monitors student progress, assessing student strengths and weaknesses.
  • Assists with the monitoring of patient progress, helping to guide MT treatment protocols.
  • Assures that student interns are properly documenting patient care.
  • Referral of patients to other healthcare professionals as dictated by patient circumstance.
  • Provides both qualitative and quantitative goals to student interns.
  • Assignment of homework to students, as needed.
  • Evaluates students, using standardized grading instruments.
  • Meets established University deadlines when grading student progress.
  • It is the responsibility of the clinic faculty to facilitate client care in the clinic, this includes monitoring and guiding treatment of clients by interns. It is also the faculty's responsibility to assess and verify interns' competence.

What you need to have?

  • Nationally Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB); or licensed health care professionals with formal training in massage.
  • Two years of experience as a practicing massage therapist working with clients with special considerations and conditions.
  • Three years of college level teaching or clinic supervision experience in massage therapy or related field preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certificates required
