Position Information

The Assistant Dean of Students serves as a key advisor and liaison for the University's Student Senate, clubs, and organizations, and a primary support for at-risk students. This position serves as the institution's Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and leads international student advising for the department. The Assistant Dean partners with the Dean of Students to ensure the efficacy of Student Affairs programs, services, and policies, and drives several key initiatives for the department, including: peer-to-peer mentorship programs; leadership development tracks; major campus events such as Commencement and Orientation; and the administration of the Student Code of Conduct and Testing Center.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.

Work Location: Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work 1-2 days per week remotely; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.

Duties:

  • Serve as co-advisor for NWHSU's Student Senate
  • Lead International Student Advising & Serve as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO)
  • Oversee the University's Club and Organization Program
  • Design and Implement student leadership development and Peer mentorship programs
  • Assist in the administration of the Student Code of Conduct & provide support for crisis intervention and other case management needs
  • Provide leadership and support for major campus events, including New Student Orientation and Commencement
  • Ensure effective functioning of the Student Affairs front office and the Accommodations Testing Center

What you need to have?

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in the field of higher education, student affairs, college student personnel, or related field is strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in a Student Affairs office is required.
