Position Information

The Digital Learning Manager oversees distance learning and education technologies to promote innovative learning design and course development that enhance on-campus, hybrid, and online teaching and learning. This position will collaborate with faculty and staff to establish consistent quality standards to measure and improve the quality of course design, user experience and learning across programs and courses. The Digital Learning Manager will develop and deliver training, onboarding, and group and/or /individualized learning design consultation and assistance. This position will also help faculty and staff to identify appropriate technologies needed to accomplish desired learning outcomes while increasing student learning, success, and engagement.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.

Work Location: Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work 3+ days per week remotely; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.

Duties:

  • Guide the university on innovative learning delivery methods that enhance teaching and learning
  • Strategically contribute to faculty training, orientation, and faculty development for teaching in collaboration with internal and external partners
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff in course design and development, sometimes with multi-media, for on-campus, online, hybrid and hyflex courses
  • Collaborate with the schools' leadership teams to support the design of new programs
  • Establish consistent quality standards for course design, template design, and user experience across programs and courses
  • Collaborate on sustainable quality measurement, analysis, and reporting for improvement purposes
  • Support faculty and staff in the integration of technology to address learning design questions and enhance the faculty and student learning experience
  • Develop processes and tools to train faculty, staff, and students to engage with the learning management system
  • Assist with troubleshooting technology issues that emerge in blended and online courses
  • Define projects and manage them to meet milestones and timelines
  • Organize regular and ad-hoc meetings as needed through the life of the program/course design project
  • Communicate progress and milestone achievement to all stakeholders
  • Be available to the faculty during the course to assist with any questions or problems
  • Hire and performance manage learning design staff

What you need to have?

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's/Doctoral Degree preferred in Instructional Technology or related field
  • Previous experience in online instructional and curriculum design
  • Fully knowledgeable in online learning pedagogy, instructional design, adult learning principles, learning management systems, and other instructional software Experience with Moodle is a bonus
  • Ability to provide instructional, curriculum, and technical design consulting services to faculty
  • Ability to move multiple and concurrent instructional design and related projects forward
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, problem solving skills, interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure a high degree of shared understanding and transparency
  • Excellent project management skills
