Position Information:

The Department of Chiropractic Studies seeks a full-time teaching faculty member for technique courses. Duties include laboratory instruction of chiropractic evaluation and treatment techniques, providing frequent and formative feedback to students, performing assessments aligned with the course objectives and assisting in course management. University committee work, assignment for student mentoring, teaching within other departments and clinical opportunities may also be expected.

We are looking for a faculty member who enjoys working with a team of committed individuals, and who is student-centered in their approach to education. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has excellent communication skills, works well within a collaborative environment and is highly motivated toward teaching as a profession.

This is a year-round faculty position, where academic rank and compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience.

Work Location: Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work 1-2 days per week remotely; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.

Course Assignment Specifics:

Specific courses will be assigned within the department and will include the entire range of Chiropractic technique classes, Therapy classes, and/or Philosophy classes.

Teaching opportunities outside the department, as well as clinical supervision may also be available, and would be assigned based on individual expertise and experience, as well as the needs of the College of Chiropractic.

Duties:

  • Instruct of chiropractic technique labs with daily student interaction that includes demonstrating procedures and techniques, directing students in procedures and techniques, answering questions and providing immediate feedback.
  • Assist the primary instructor with developing and improving class content that is consistent across the College of Chiropractic departments and clinical environment.
  • As a secondary instructor, support lead instructors in developing laboratory lesson plans that aide in the development of clinical skills and provide opportunities to apply knowledge in a hands-on setting.
  • Assist with Force Sensing Table and other simulated adjusting systems.
  • Provide emergency coverage of classes and lectures in the event that a lead instructor suddenly becomes unavailable.
  • Assist in the assessment of student skills via practical, and competency exams
  • Monitoring and evaluating major assessment measures of student learning pertaining to department courses and curricular threads.
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Assist in developing ExamSoft exams and Moodle course development
  • Determine and developing corrective action as needed for continuous quality improvement of student outcomes specific to courses and curricular threads.
  • Respond to student concerns regarding courses and attempt to resolve concerns according to established processes and approvals.
  • Maintain a responsive and respectful student learning experience.
  • When needed, act as a supervising doctor for the T6 clinic class Clinical Internship 1.
  • Attend university and college related events (ex. White Coat Ceremony, commencement, orientation, committee meetings)
  • Further clinical and academic knowledge through scholarly activity

What you need to have?

  • Doctor of Chiropractic degree required
  • Prefer experience in graduate or undergraduate teaching, assessment, and/or practice
  • A passion for teaching technique
  • Working knowledge of adjustive procedures using high-velocity, low-amplitude thrusts.
  • Active Minnesota chiropractic license required
