Position Information:

The College of Health and Wellness at NWHSU is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a full-time, faculty member to join our Medical Lab Technology and Medical Lab Science programs. The successful candidate will share our vision of becoming the premier provider of MLT/MLS programs in the Midwest and will help advance that vision through their teaching. Faculty members will also contribute to the integrative health focused mission of the University, encouraging learning across
disciplines.

Through online and in-person educational models and using the latest educational technology, this individual will help mold the next generation of Medical Lab Technologists and Scientists. NWHSU recently invested in a dedicated lab to support instruction in these programs.

This full-time faculty position will have both direct instruction and lab teaching responsibilities and will be assigned courses to teach in the programs each trimester.

This is a 12-month, faculty position where academic rank and compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience.

Work Location:

Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work 1-2 days per week remotely; must live local and come to campus as needed. Occasional evening and weekend teaching requirements: approximately one Saturday a month and one evening per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage course curriculum, design, development, and delivery to create an engaging and meaningful student learning experience.
  • Maintain a responsive and respectful student learning environment that ensures a quality education and supports students to achieve their educational goals.
  • Achieve technological literacy, knowledge, and innovative use of modern teaching technologies including active learning and the use of computers and multi-media in lectures, laboratories, and distance learning environments.
  • Respond to student questions and concerns to achieve resolutions according to established university processes.
  • Manage course and programmatic records such as enrollment, grades, student performance in a timely manner as set forth by the university, division, and college.
  • Maintain regular office hours and timely communication for student support and advising.
  • Participate in events, programmatic meetings, and committee work as determined by the Program Chair or Dean.
  • Promote a community of belonging and engage with diverse individuals of varying cultures, ethnic backgrounds, and abilities to maintain good working relationships across the University and College.
  • Collaborate in the development of new courses and implement strategies to enhance and upgrade current courses including curriculum development, review, and revision.
  • Participate in professional and occupational development to maintain a depth of understanding in the Medical Laboratory field and contribute to current knowledge of the discipline.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required as Medical Lab Scientist; Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous teaching or supervising experience in a Medical Laboratory Technology or Sciences program.
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) Certification required
