Position Information:

Northwestern Health Sciences University invites applications for a 1.0 FTE Ranked Faculty position in the College of Chiropractic in the Diagnostic & Clinical Sciences Department to teach in Clinical Pathology 1 & 2. This is a 12-month, faculty position where academic rank and compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience.

Work Location:

Bloomington, MN on-site.

Duties:

  • Prepare lab materials and specimen samples to be used in labs
  • Create weekly content of weekly lectures and labs
  • Lead in the instruction of the laboratories, interacting with students, directing them in laboratory procedures, and answering questions
  • Update pertinent documents (ex. syllabus) each term
  • Update course Moodle site prior to the start of each trimester the course is offered
  • Assess student learning utilizing ExamSoft testing to determine if objectives of the course have been successfully met
  • Assess student skills related to interpretation, diagnosis, and management related to clinical pathology
  • Provide prompt feedback to students
  • Participate in the collaborative development of curriculum that is consistent across the College of Chiropractic Departments and Clinical environment
  • Coordinate tracking and ordering supplies along with maintenance of equipment
  • Monitor and evaluate major assessment measures of student learning pertaining to department courses and curricular threads
  • Determine and develop corrective action as needed for continuous quality improvement of student outcomes specific to courses and curricular threads.
  • Respond to student concerns regarding courses and attempt to resolve concerns according to established processes and the chain of command
  • Maintain a responsive and respectful student learning experience
  • Attend College and University meetings and assigned committees

Qualifications:

  • A terminal professional degree is required in one or more of the following:
    • DC, PharmD, DPT, MD, DO, Ph.D. in a related field, or similar
  • Prior teaching experience preferred
  • This position requires experience in clinical pathology and the ability to interpret lab work, diagnosis, and recommended management for a variety of systemic conditions
  • Knowledge or experience with regular laboratory procedures related to processing of samples, required equipment and supplies, and abide by State and Federal regulatory standards
  • Strong understanding of clinical pathology
  • Experience with ordering and interpreting clinical labs
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with the use of learning management platforms (Moodle) is preferred
  • Experience in various models of teaching including backwards design, team-based and problem-based learning is preferred
