Position Information:

Reporting to the Dean of the College of Health and Wellness the MLT/MLS Program Chair leads faculty and manages resources of the Medical Lab Technology and Medical Lab Science programs within the College of Health and Wellness.

This is a full-time ranked faculty position. The position is a blend of managerial duties (1/3 time) and teaching responsibilities (2/3 time).

Work Location:

Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work 1-2 days per week remotely.


The program chair serves as the principal liaison between the MLT/MLS programs and other campus departments.

The program chair carries principal responsibility for carrying out the following tasks:

  • Recruits, supervises, and evaluates faculty. The program chair acts on behalf of the MLT/MLS programs in allocating resources, submitting course schedules, managing facilities, and communicating program needs.
  • Leads and manage the program accreditation compliance requirements
  • Shares responsibility for meeting program enrollment goals in partnership with Admissions and Marketing
  • Manages program expenses to promote overall fiscal sustainability of the program
  • Maintains and enhance the academic quality of the program through facilitating regular review and assessment of its curriculum
  • Conducts periodic program reviews according to established schedule and implement improvements based on results
  • Partners the Dean to develop and monitor the program budget
  • Serves as a liaison, information, and evaluations to administrative offices, faculty committees, ad hoc committees, and other groups
  • Monitors course registrations and make appropriate adjustments in course schedules and instructor assignments in cooperation with the Registrar and Dean's Office
