Position Information:

This position will supervise and evaluate students in Massage Therapy Clinical Rotations. The Clinical supervisor will also be responsible for assessment of student learning and assignment of grades based on the use of acceptable evaluation tools.

In the Massage Therapy Clinical Rotation courses, Students provide massage therapy treatment sessions in the Massage Therapy Teaching Clinic and a variety of offsite clinics under the supervision of clinic supervisors. Clinical Rotations focus on the application of full body massage techniques, as presented in Massage Therapy Relaxation and Rehabilitative Massage course sequences. In offsite environments working with special populations, supervisors will support interns in identifying red flags, local and general contraindications, and optimal treatment plans that may involve targeted or full-body techniques.

This position is part-time, approximately 6-20 hours per week.

Work Location:

Bloomington, MN on-site.

Position Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience as a practicing massage therapist working with clients with special considerations and conditions.
  • Three years of college level teaching or clinic supervision experience in massage therapy or related field preferred.
  • Nationally Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB).

Position Functions:

  • Instruct student interns in regards to proper patient care, while following the clinical policies of the Massage program.
  • Foster an environment where student interns serve as the primary care provider.
  • Instruct students in efficient and proper patient interactions.
  • Monitor student progress, assessing strengths and weaknesses
  • Provide mentoring.
  • Assist with the monitoring of patient progress.
  • Assure that student interns are properly documenting patient care.
  • Refer patients to other healthcare professionals as dictated by patient circumstance.
  • Provide qualitative and quantitative goals to student interns.
  • Assign homework to interns, as needed.
  • Evaluate students, using standardized grading instruments.
  • Meet established University deadlines when grading student progress.
