Position Information:

The Events Program Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, managing and coordinating multiple types of large university events. This includes conceptualizing a theme, developing and managing a budget, working collaboratively with numerous external vendors and internal stakeholders, planning and executing all event logistics, and ensuring each event meets objectives and provides a positive experience for attendees. Events may be virtual, in-person or hybrid.

This position will work with senior leaders and multiple departments. It is a visible role both within the organization and a key point of contact with numerous external partners. Strong project planning, communication, collaboration and negotiation is essential.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible opportunity

Work Location:

Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work remotely up to 3+ days per week.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, hospitality management or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5+ years of progressive event management experience including conceptualizing themes, decor, food & beverage management.
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) preferred

Additional knowledge/skills:

  • Professional event management experience.
  • Ability to conceptualize themes, visualize the transformation of event space, and suggest creative options.
  • Exceptional project and time management skills with the ability to manage concurrent tasks efficiently.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of event vendors, suppliers, hospitality operations.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills and ability to interact with respect, credibility, professionalism, integrity, creativity and tact.
  • Ability to prepare diagrams based on event needs, guest count, traffic flow.
  • Strategic planning and program development skills.
  • Excellent communicational skills both written and oral.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, sense of urgency when needed, ability to quickly develop solutions.
  • Able to work within a collaborative team environment.
