Our Mission:

Northwestern Health Sciences University prepares the next generation of healthcare professionals to deliver and advance health care.

NWHSU Overview:

Founded in 1941, NWHSU is a progressive institution educating the next generation of health care professionals. While the institution's history is rooted in the chiropractic profession, NWHSU now focuses more broadly on integrative care, health, and wellness. In addition to our Doctor of Chiropractic, we offer a Doctor in Chinese Medicine, and offerings in massage therapy, nutrition, undergraduate health sciences, and the allied health professions - medical assisting, medical laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, radiation therapy, and radiologic technology. We are a mission- and vision-driven university, preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals to not only deliver, but advance health care.

Position Information:

We are hiring for an adjunct faculty opportunity teaching Bioethics (3 credits) in our Undergraduate program starting in our summer term. This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible role.

Course Catalog Description: As a health professional, you'll want to give people the right treatment, but you'll also want to treat them right morally. This is not always as easy as it sounds. Situations may be complicated; there may be pluses and minuses on both sides of a decision. Your good intentions and instincts may not serve you, or your patients, well. This course will give you tools for thinking clearly about morality, and we'll give those tools a good workout in classroom discussions and writing assignments. (Note: This class meets weekly).

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Update syllabus
  • Prepare relevant curriculum as described by the course description and learning objectives
  • Assess and evaluate students against course learning objectives
  • Select and use textbooks and teaching materials for the course
  • Manage communications with students during class and out of class (email, phone, and LMS)
  • Advise on matters relating to teaching Bioethics
  • Support student learning and questions outside of class

Position Qualifications:

  • Master's degree is required, PhD is preferred
    • Education program should be in Bioethics or a related field
    • In lieu of a Master's degree in Bioethics or a related field, 18 graduate level credits in a related area would be acceptable
  • 0-2 years of experience required in University level teaching
  • Previous experience teaching Bioethics is preferred
  • Online teaching experience preferred

Equal Opportunity Employer:

Northwestern Health Sciences University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to creating an inclusive environment that values the diversity of its employees and does not discriminate against any employee or candidate.
