Position Information: 

The Clinical Assistant abides by the mission of NWHSU, and mission and guiding principles of operation of the Northwestern Health Clinics. The primary goal of the Clinical Assistant is to increase the efficiency and the productivity of the provider that they are working with in the treatment room. The Clinical Assistant allows the provider to focus on what is most important, the patient.

This position will start as part-time & non-benefits eligible but will transition up to 30 hours per week & benefits eligible as the Sweere Clinic expands. 

The part-time schedule will be Tuesdays 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm and Thursdays 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Accurately and thoroughly documenting medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the treating provider

  • Clinical Assistant duties, including but not limited to:

    • Patient medical history and physical exam
    • Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including all providers disciplines; i.e. chiropractor, physical therapist, rolfer, acupuncturist, etc.
    • Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits
    • Document diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up
    • Prepare referral letters as directed by the treating provider
  • Proofreading and editing all the provider's medical documents for accuracy, spelling, punctuation and grammar in order to reduce errors

  • Collecting patient measurable data

  • Creating a smooth patient workflow and comfortable environment for the patient by assisting providers

Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required
    • Associate degree in business, education, and/or healthcare is preferred
  • 0-2 years of experience is required
    • 1-2 years of related experience in a chiropractic or medical office is preferred
  • CPR Certification

Other Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Language skills, mathematical skills, reasoning ability, computer skills
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments to the extent required to understand and accurately transcribe dictated reports
  • Ability to participate in ongoing mandatory training, including HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens, FERPA, BLS, etc.
