Position information: 

The Patient Services Coordinator position serves as the first point of contact for Northwestern Health Clinics and leads by example the mission of NWHSU and mission and guiding principles of operation of the Northwestern Health Clinics. The Patient Services Coordinator position ensures the patient's expectations are exceeded through exemplary performance of the essential job functions outlined in this job posting.

This position will begin as part-time throughout the training process (approximately 18 hours per week, non-benefits eligible) and will transfer to full-time (40 hours per week, benefits eligible) starting in April 2020.

There will be a part-time training schedule in March:

  • Monday - Friday (3 days/week up to a 6 hours shift within the hours of 8:00 am - 6:30 pm)

Once the position is full-time, the schedule will be:

  • Mondays & Wednesdays (TBD on exact schedule - will be an 8.5 hour shift within the hours of 8:00 am - 6:30 pm)
  • Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 10:00 am - 6:30 pm

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Patient registration and scheduling
  • Preparing new patient health record with appropriate forms
  • Collection of fees
  • Insurance Verification
  • Follow HIPAA privacy rules and complete annual HIPAA training
  • Opening/closing of the Northwestern Health Clinic
  • Inventory and order tracking of clinic supplies
  • Supporting clinicians and interns
    • Schedule patients for outside procedures (lab/x-ray)
    • Assist patients with scheduling appointment when referred outside the NW Health Clinic
    • Provide observational experience for student interns to observe front desk operations and procedures
  • Retail and Marketing support
    • Assist customers with purchases when necessary
    • Promote clinical services, retail services and educational opportunities within the clinic
    • Participate in event planning and events

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years experience
  • CPR Certification (required)
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Additional knowledge/skills:

  • Working knowledge of EHR (GE Centricity a plus)
  • Working experience with retail Point of Sale system preferred
