Position Information:

The Program Chair provides the leadership necessary to execute the mission of the Radiology Technology Program and students it serves. The primary responsibilities include program development and management, budget development and management, and maintaining programmatic accreditation. In addition, duties of the chair include developing and maintaining external partnerships and providing operational supervision to full and part time faculty and staff. Instructional responsibilities include strong Radiology Technology skill and ability to teach students effectively in both a clinical and classroom environment.  This position requires a schedule of at least 40 hours per week on campus. The Program Chair is a member of the full-time faculty and maintains a teaching load with administrative release time to carry out duties.

In addition to teaching 18 faculty load credits per academic year, duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee Curriculum Assessment and processes designed to improve Student Learning.
    • Monitor and evaluate all assessment measures of student learning specific to the program.
    • Take appropriate corrective action as needed for continuous quality improvement of student outcomes specific to the program.
    • Ensure all course content is effectively coordinated throughout the program curriculum.
    • Ensure program courses are correctly mapped to Program Learning Outcomes.
  • Leadership and management of the Radiology Technology program and faculty
    • Represent the program at admissions events
    • Develop and implement annual program goals and work plans aligned with the University Strategic Plan
    • Organize and lead program meetings (faculty and curriculum)
    • Attend College and University meetings and assigned committees
    • Administer institutional published policy to insure program compliance with College, University, Accreditor(s), and State rules and regulations
    • Manage recruitment for faculty positions as outlined in the Employee Handbook
    • Administer performance management process
    • Submit program course schedules to Registrar
    • Provide liaison, information, and evaluations to administrative offices, faculty committees, ad hoc committees, and other groups
    • Monitor course registrations and make appropriate adjustments in course schedules and instructor assignments in cooperation with the Registrar and Dean's Office
    • Maintaining and enhancing the academic quality of the program through facilitating regular review and assessment of its curriculum
    • Managing the program to ensure course coverage, and proposing changes to the program curriculum as needed
    • Proactively manage recruitment for faculty leaves or terminations including a pipeline of talent (regular and adjunct)
    • Conducting periodic program evaluation/reviews
    • Encouraging faculty professional development and exchange of ideas among program faculty
    • Providing liaison, information, and evaluations to administrative offices, faculty committees, ad hoc committees, alumni and other groups
    • Assemble and lead a Program Advisory Committee (PAC). Hold a PAC meeting at least once per year.
  • Fiscal oversight of the program
    • Responsible for meeting program admission goals in partnership with admissions and marketing departments.
    • Identifying and executing innovative outreach strategies to attract excellent candidates to the program.
    • Responsible for overall financial performance of the program.
    • Monitoring the program budget and develop program budget requests
    • Monitor course registrations and make appropriate adjustments in course schedules and instructor assignments in cooperation with the Registrar and Dean's Office

Position Qualifications:

  • Master's degree required in a health-related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution
  • Three years of clinical experience in the professional discipline
  • Two years of experience as an instructor in a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited program
  • Proficiency in curriculum design, program administration, evaluation, instruction, and academic advising
  • Experience with Radiography national accreditation standards and procedures, i.e. JRCERT
  • Required to hold American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) current registration in radiography or equivalent (i.e. unrestricted state license for the state of MN)
