Position Information:

The Programmer/Analyst will develop and support the University's software and applications as they serve the University's strategic goals and business needs. That software includes Agresso Business World, Ellucian Colleague, Raiser's Edge, PowerFaids, CounterPoint POS, and web applications including, but not limited to, Enrole, Enrollment Rx, SalesForce, eNorthwestern, Moodle and the University website. The Programmer/Analyst works with multiple departments to assess business needs, analyze business processes and requirements, and then develops software and applications to support those needs.  The Programmer/Analyst also plays a key role in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to University software and web applications.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible opportunity.

Position Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree is required, but a bachelor's is preferred
    • Degree in a related field is required, with strong preference given to academic study in computer science, math, or related field.
    • In absence of a degree, we may consider a combination of related academic study (including progress toward a degree), such as current web and SQL-based programming languages (VB, VBA, ASP.Net, HTML, Java Script, SQL Server scripting [T-SQL preferred], and other related computer languages) and relevant work experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience with:
    • Supporting software applications.
    • Object-oriented coding language.
    • Using an IDE (Visual Studio preferred).
    • Development environments including: VB/ASP, SQL Server, REST, and other related environments.
    • Data modeling or entity modeling experience.
    • Programming in multiple languages and operating systems.
    • Using application development methodologies.
    • Systems analysis methodologies, including creation of analysis and design documentation.
    • HTML, XHTML, XML, Java Script, PHP and CSS and other related web-based programming languages.
    • T-SQL and SQL programming experience, using views and stored procedures.
    • Experience in a virtual machine server environment preferred.
    • Microsoft Office 365 and/or Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Microsoft Visio and Project preferred.
    • Enterprise applications including ERPs.

  • Ability to learn new programming languages and new vendor software applications.
  • Strong customer service skills and demonstrated responsiveness to customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with IT management, other IT staff, and customers to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
